Express Golf 6 Aims to Attract Juniors to the Sport

L-R: Nigel Martyn, Marshall Capel, Gina Campbell, Clive Metcalf

‘Express Golf 6’, a new style of golf, is being launched at Moor Allerton Golf Club on Wednesday 22nd September, by England goalkeeper Nigel Martyn.

The idea is that teams of two play against the clock over six holes. The team with the lowest combined times and shots wins the game.

With the average age of members at many golf clubs exceeding 60, something has to be done to attract the younger generation to the sport and Express Golf 6 is targeting  the future Tiger Woods, Ian Poulters and Rory McIlroys.

Local businessman and club member, Marshall Capel, who dreamt up the game, has been looking for a way to entice youngsters to play and add a new dimension to the game. “Twenty20 has changed the face of County Cricket, Express Golf 6 will do the same for golf”, he said.

Following the Express Golf 6 tournament, Nigel Martyn will be hosting a charity golf event. For further information about Express Golf 6 contact Clive Metcalf on 07967 007542
