Hilarious Musical Satirist Mitch Benn Comes to Leeds

One of the best writer/performers of comic songs in the country, Mitch Benn arrives at Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds on Saturday 25 February.

A regular on BBC1’s “The One Show” as the writer and arranger of “The Complaints Choir” and composer for two satirical topical ditties a week for “The Now Show” for BBC Radio 4 as well as BBC Radio 2’s “It’s Been a Bad Week”.  It’s safe to say Mitch is one of the country’s leading satirical song writers.

It’s been a morbid time for ‘the country’s leading musical satirist’ (The Times); he’s turned 46, his personal life is in turmoil and his childhood heroes are dropping like flies. At times like these, a man feels the Reaper creeping up on him… But is death anything to fear? Join Mitch to confront his (and your) mortality with hilarious and tuneful consequences.

Mitch Benn: Don’t Believe a Word comes to Leeds

“I’m a sceptic. But don’t take my word for it. Or indeed anybody’s. For anything….” and this is the basic premise of Mitch Benn’s new critically acclaimed show coming to Carriageworks Theatre Saturday 2 May. Benn returns following last year’s brilliant Mitch Benn is the 37th Beatle bringing Leeds a second chance to revel in this Now Show favourite’s comedy song stylings.

It’s a show that will make you laugh a lot and think a bit as well as Mitch debunks myths, exposes nonsense and grapples with the very nature of knowledge itself extolling the virtues of an evidence-based approach to life …. with amusing consequences and of course a few songs along the way.

The Now Show aside, Mitch has recently co-presented with Harry Shearer BBC Radio 2’s Anatomy of a Guitar as well performing Mitch Benn is the 37th Beatle and presenting Spank the Plank both for BBC Radio 4. An occasional series where Mitch takes his unique and quirky look at a few more rock icons has been commissioned by Radio 4 for 2015
